Experience one of Mexico’s most culturally significant traditions, the Day of the Dead or Día de Muertos, in a way that truly immerses you in the festivities. Join us in the beautiful-colonial city of Merida, located in the Yucatán Peninsula of Mexico, to celebrate Hanal Pixan, the Mayan interpretation of Día de Muertos.

Hanal Pixan, which means “food for the souls” in the Mayan language, is a time when families honor their deceased loved ones by setting up altars or ofrendas in their homes or at their gravesites. These altars are decorated with marigold flowers, candles, incense, and traditional food offerings, such as tamales, fruit, and pan de muerto (bread of the dead).

In Merida, the Hanal Pixan celebrations are taken to the next level with parades, cultural displays, food, and more! It is a memorable experience that will stay with you forever. Our trip includes 5 days and 4 nights in a spectacular luxury boutique hotel located close to the celebrations in town.

The trip begins on Thursday, October 30th, and ends on November 3rd. While the official Day of the Dead falls on November 1st and 2nd, Merida celebrates the weekend before with a full schedule of activities, shows, and things to see and do. If you prefer to stay on the official days, you are welcome to extend your stay.
